 Tijuana bibles were dirty underground comics published in the States and Canada in between 1920s and 1950s. Those were short 8-page black & white comics (one page = one panel) printed illegally on cheap paper and distributed (illegally as well) under the shop counters or on the streets. There were no serious raids or consequences towards the authors (which mostly remained unknown) or distributors even thought the comics were completely sexually explicit.In many cases the main 8-pager protagonists were movies stars, politicians, famous sportsmen... Famous cartoon characters weren't spared as well, from Mickey Mouse to Snow White they all fucked on pages of these dirty little comics. After second world war tijuana bibles gradually lose popularity. They were replaced in sixties by so-called underground comics but that was quite different thing... which we'll talk about as well :) |
